Elaine Blume 360

Description: It’s a little muggy in the garden today. It had rained the night before and now it’s 93 degrees and we are only in mid spring. I can smell the dew in the air, slightly sharp citruses and a some sweet pine from the pine trees. There’s a fresh green aroma from the moss and fully in bloom rose bushes. Speaking of rose, the roses aren’t hiding at all. Its powdery scent completely penetrates your nose, beautifully blending but taking the lead above the geranium and jasmine florals. Finally, inhaling deeply, somewhere, somehow, I can smell a bit of warm and creamy Tonka bean, this adds on to the powdery florals and musky, dewy air. 

I don’t think everyone would find this morning, this garden, this smell to be pleasing. Some people need busy city mornings, a moment to surrender to the taste of coffee. But for me this is beautiful, this means taking a moment to breathe and be in the present. This is quiet mornings with my feet connected to earth, this is grounding and peaceful. Floral- powdery moments that remind me of mom.
